Meernaa s So Far So Good includes early singles "On My Line," "Another Dimension" and "I Believe In You," the latter of which arrived with the announcement of Meernaa s signing with Keeled Scales. Carly Bond s followup to her 2019 record Heart Hunger, which Paste described as "a dazzling display of instrumental prowess and technical know-how" refines those skills even further into a vividly-written-and-performed portrait of self-examination. So Far So Good finds Bond processing themes of addiction and loss, interpreting dreams, and discovering methods of release behind intertwining compositions of Americana, indie-pop and classic R&B.
A Bay Area native, Bond started out as a music lover before picking up the guitar and learning the ropes through her high school jazz program. Eventually, Bond began writing her own songs. Wanting to deepen her knowledge of music and grappling with the decision of attending college, Bond began interning at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco in 2013, and eventually worked to afford one day of recording for herself, where she ended up working with her future bandmate and husband Rob Shelton.
Shelton and Bond began playing music together soon after and Bond began releasing music as Meernaa, collaborating with other Bay Area musicians Doug Stuart (Brijean) and Andrew Maguire. In 2020, Shelton and Bond moved to Los Angeles together to open their own studio Altamira Sound with other Tiny Telephone alums James Riotto and Andrew Maguire, fostering a community around the blooming LA music scene. As Meernaa, Bond has continued to hone her skills as a guitarist, songwriter and perfomer, sharing bills with the likes of Helado Negro, Nilüfer Yanya, Sam Evian, Miya Folick, and Brijean.
