Since the release of her debut album back in 2008, synthesizer-obsessed Swedish songstress Molly Nilsson has released some of the most absorbing and attractive, leftfield synth-pop around. Predictably, she s in fine form on Imagniation, her third album for Night School and sixth in total. While she has a distinctive musical vision, there are clear nods to early Kate Bush, Tango in the Night era Fleetwood Mac (she does her best Stevie Nicks impression on "Money Never Dreams"), her similarly minded contemporary Dominique Dumont, and even some of the Pet Shop Boys more melancholy moments (see closer "Afterlife").
