“In their geometry, is a straight line to a living death…”
With their anticipated new album “For This We Fought The Battle Of Ages”, Salt Lake City doom-chamber metal band SUBROSA have created their most triumphant and most enveloping album to date. Continuing the momentum with 2013 s highly acclaimed turning point album “No Help For The Mighty Ones”, said album brought a new awareness to SUBROSA as one of the most prominent doom-infused metal bands from America today through their singular crushing monolithic sound canvas which consists of a devastating mix of soul crushing doom metal, neo-classical chamber music (solidified by the band s two electric violin players), and Appalachian murder balladry all filtered through the veil of American gothic tragedy.
“For This We Fought The Battle Of Ages” sees SUBROSA expanding their sound to a new plateau with their heaviest, darkest, and most dynamic-sounding album to date through bigger-sounding production value (the new album was fully engineered and mixed by drummer Andy Patterson) and a more vast and expansive sonic palette. The most crucial album for the band yet, FTWFTBOA is a vision sonically portrayed within the desperate times and measures in today s state of unrest and uncertainty, one that serves as a lesson in self-reflection and perception.
Salt Lake City s Subrosa are one of America s most singular and important doom / chamber-metal bands. Their 2013 breakthrough album More Constant Than The Gods garnered the five-piece (including two electric violinists) acclaim from Pitchfork, NPR, Decibel Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly, to name just a few. In the wake of that album, they toured with bands such as Boris, Deafheaven, and Cult Of Luna, also playing prominent festivals like Roadburn, Hellfest, Southwest Terror Fest, along with many others.
With this latest album, Subrosa has crafted their most triumphant and biggest release to date. For This We Fought The Battle Of Ages is their masterpiece and establishes them as one of the most important American heavy metal bands today.
