City Soul is a concept term for introducing AOR and blue-eyed soul, soul that has a similar taste to city pop, which is currently experiencing a revival boom, and is recommended to listen to together. The series has been developed around the two books, City Soul Disc Guide (published by DU BOOKS), and this compilation CD series, and has been well received. This fifth CD, like the previous four in the series, focuses on blue-eyed soul and AOR from the 2010s to 2020s. However, it also includes some of the best 1980s songs that you should listen to now, such as unearthed recordings by the Prince family and popular modern gospel soul songs. There are also popular songs by Japanese artists, such as a HALFBY song sung by the popular Ginger Root. The comfortable groove continues for about 80 minutes, making it perfect for background music at work or in a store, or for driving. Like the previous work, this one includes a comprehensive Japanese commentary by Akira Obuchi (former editor-in-chief of BMR), author/editor of "City Soul Disc Guide" who has been introducing the Western music scene, mainly black music, for many years, in which he provides a thorough explanation of the current state of "city soul"!
